𝐈 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐩 𝐥𝐞𝐠 𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈'𝐯𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐭

My legs are undeniably my strongest body part.  They are also my most shredded.  My 1 rep max for deadlifts is 255 lbs, and for squats its 185 -with good form.  I’m at about 125 lbs so that’s not bad at all.

Strength is actually a skill.  Your muscularity is important too, but strength  is mainly a skill that is practiced over time. Strength is a MUSCULAR and MENTAL skill

When you perform a movement over and over again, like the deadlift, your body gains neuromuscular adaptations - it learns how to perform the movement - and it gets better with time.  That’s why it is so important to perform the movement correctly from the start. It is also important to consistently practice your heavy lifts because you can lose those neuromuscular adaptations too.

Strength is also a mental game.  You cannot be afraid to fail.  Believe in your strength.  Feed from it.  I have learned to know my body and trust it.  I focus before my lift, I visualize the mechanics of what I am going to do, I taste my success, then I go for the kill.  I am so focused, I don’t care who is looking at me, or if I grunt as I lift, or if my tight belt makes my stomach look inflated.  I shut the world around me off.  I razor sharp focus on my lift and my own ability to get it done.

{wwambassador}. You’ve all seen the picture on the left many times. What I’ve never shared about it is how painful that day was for me. I was visiting and all I had to wear was sweatpants!  I attempted to “dress it up” with my denim shirt. Wearing  it casually open like that when the reality is it wouldn’t even close. 😭I felt so much embarrassment. One of the top reasons I maintain my weight in a healthy range is I NEVER want to stand in my closet with no options. Feeling good in clothes is such an amazing feeling. Here I am today rocking my new @target leopard booties looking dreamy in my cream outfit. I post a lot about clothes because I learned that at every stage in your journey you should dress to feel good. It doesn’t have to be expensive. I shopped at consignment stores and Walmart. You deserve better than baggy clothes till you lose all the weight. 🛍

People following the WW program can expect to lose 1-2 lbs/per week. I lost weight on a prior WW program and WW Freestyle.

At 51 years old we are told that feeling bad is just something we should get used to, pain is inevitable, tums and gasX are just like taking ibuprofen and ibuprofen is just another grocery item.  It doesn’t have to be that way!!! -
I am listening to a great book (I’ll post it in my stories😉) It’s all about MINDSET, there is a Fixed Mindset and a Growth Mindset. With a fixed mindset you just believe that things are the way they are and you can’t change it. A growth mindset on the other hand is people who believe they can do anything if they work hard enough.  Michael Jordan, Mohammad Ali, Spud Web...these are all athletes that were not naturally gifted for various reasons, but...their Growth Mindset didn’t believe that and they worked hard, never doubted their abilities and ...well the rest is history. -

In my powerlifting days, #lowerbodyday was not lower body day unless I did barbell squats.

That ain’t the case anymore. After seeing so many injuries amongst my powerlifting buddies and then getting a couple of injuries myself, I smartened up.
.
Sure, I’ll still squat but very differently than I did before. And certainly not every workout. .
Here I’m hitting one one the best exercises for most people to incorporate- The leg press. Done correctly, it can do wonders for your legs. And it can do so in a safe manner.
.
My advice is simple. Don’t blindly do “cool”, exciting, or IG worthy exercises. Instead, do exercises that fit your body and are aligned with your goals.

Then of course commit to working on developing mastery over them. 👊💪
