First Appearance: Justice League America
#76 (July 1992).
With no actual documented first name Bloodwynd is one of DC's most mysterious characters. Being one of the first main African American DC characters Bloodwynd is the descendant of slaves. These slaves used dark magic to create a powerful magical gem called the "Blood Gem". Unintentionally while this gem was passed down from generation to generation unbenounced to the people who created it they accidentally attached a gateway to another dimension to this forsaken gem. The Villain known as Rott claimed the souls that were killed by this gem. Bloowynd was trapped inside if the gem while the alien hero known as Martian Manhunter impersonated him as come to find out Manhunter was being mind controlled the entire time. The real Bloowynd would soon gain his freedom and go on to join the Justice League and the Justice League America. Bloodwynd is a powerful hero with mystic abilities and is able to sense death perhaps one of his most dangerous abilities is his "Sentence Stare" which allows him to project the fears of his enemies upon his opponents. Bloowynd would put himself on the reserve list after questioning his membership of the Justice League and has been out action every since. Oddly enough he was last seen in Grant Morrison's Multiversity as a member of a different earth's hero team. Bloowynd has a lot of potential as a good character and should be brought back by DC writers to explore this potential.
